If you'd like to avoid the crowds and learn to fly fish with a private instructor, this is what you're looking for. Our instructional trips are perfect for couples or parents and children to get started in the sport.
For the beginner angler: Learn casting basics, how to identify insects for fly selection, knot tying and much more. On the water you'll be learning safe wading techniques, reading the water, proper fly presentation and how to hook, land and release your fish. A day begins with a casting lesson followed by a streamside walk for an entomology lesson. Here we will study the current insect activity, explain reading the water and other techniques to maximize your day on the water. Then it's on to match the hatch fishing! This comprehensive, full-day instructional trip is designed for the beginner.
For the experienced angler: Let us show you some of the finest trout water Vermont has to offer. Cut out the trial and error of finding out what flies are producing best, where the fish are and when to fish. Whether you prefer secluded streams with native brookies or larger water with browns and rainbows, Vermont has it. If you're not familiar with the local water there's no better way to learn it than with a professional guide.
Half day (4 hours) and full day (8 hours) trips are geared to more experienced anglers.
Fly-tying and casting seminars for singles and groups are available.
